Happy [<em>is<\/em>] he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because [<em>he eateth<\/em>] not of faith: for whatsoever [<em>is<\/em>] not of faith is sin.<br>(Ellipsis <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/cu31924029277047#page\/n79\/mode\/2up\">24<\/a>)<br><br><br><em>Italicized <\/em>words in [brackets] were added by the King James Version translators.<br><br>Notes:<br><br>Verse 1 Hyperbaton: \u201c<em>doubtful disputations<\/em>\u201d is \u201c<em>disputings of doubt<\/em>\u201d, with the words being out of order to draw attention to the word \u201c<em>doubt<\/em>\u201d or \u201c<em>doubtful<\/em>\u201d. <br><br>Verse 2 <a href=\"https:\/\/figuresofspeechinthebible.net\/?page_id=2084\">Ellipsis<\/a>: \u201cFor one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak [<em>in the faith<\/em>], eateth herbs [<em>only<\/em>]\u201d.<br><br>Verse 3 Metonymy: the word \u201c<em>judge<\/em>\u201d is put for \u201c<em>punish<\/em>\u201d or \u201c<em>condemn<\/em>\u201d.<br><br>Verse 4 Idioma: not only <strong>able<\/strong>, but also <strong>willing<\/strong>.<br><br>Apostrophe: a turning aside from the direct subject matter to address other matters (<em>thou<\/em>). <br><br>Epanorthosis: a retracting of what has been said in order to correct and emphasize the correction of an error. It is not that what has been said is in error, but what needed to be corrected is the error. <\/span><\/span><\/span><br><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">(see <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/cu31924029277047#page\/n965\/mode\/2up\">page 910<\/a>)<br><br>Verse 5 Anadiplosis: in the English this figure appears to exist, however in the Greek it does not. Anadiplosis is a figure of repetition whereby the word or words that are used to begin a sentence are the same as the ones used to end the previous sentence or thought. At times conjunctions such as \u201c<em>for<\/em>\u201d, or \u201c<em>but<\/em>\u201d, or \u201c<em>and<\/em>\u201d may be nesessary between the word being repeated, but this should not distract us from seeing the repetition. I believe that words such as particles, prepositions, articles, and conjunctions, should not distract us from seeing the repetition.<br><br>In verse 5 the English word repeated is \u201c<em>another<\/em>\u201d.. In the Greek, the first word \u201c<em>another<\/em>\u201d is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blbclassic.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G2250&amp;t=KJV\">\u1f21\u03bc\u03ad\u03c1\u03b1<\/a> (<em>h\u0113mera<\/em> ), meaning <em>day<\/em>, or <em>time<\/em>. The second is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blbclassic.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G2250&amp;t=KJV\">\u1f21\u03bc\u03ad\u03c1\u03b1<\/a> (<em>h\u0113mera<\/em> ) also, with \u201c&#8230;day above day&#8230;\u201d being the reading. It is not an Anadiplosis because a phrase, clause, or sentence has not ended and a new one begun. I see the Metonymy, but it seems that the noun \u201c<em>meat<\/em>\u201d is rather where it resides, meaning your \u201c<em>liberty<\/em>\u201d to eat without condemnation. <br><br>Antimetathesis: a change of person(s) being addressed. <br><br>Verse 17 Synecdoche: peace is only a part of the whole of all God&#8217;s blessings to us.<br><br>Anabasis: an ascent; a going up. One cannot have joy without the blessings of peace in their heart, nor can they have peace without having been made righteous by God.<br><br>Verse 20 Ellipsis: \u201c For meat destroy not the work of God.
