(KJV) which neglects the Greek Tmesis.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Verse 11<br \/>\nAllegory: Continued Comparison by Representation or Implication. Here we have two forms of Antimereia, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>viz<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">., the Antimereia of the adjective &#8216; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i><b>spiritual<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> for spiritual powers, or spirits, and the Antimereia of the noun, of <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i><b>wickedness<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">,&#8221; for their origin or character&#8221;).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nMetonymy of the Subject: The Devil is the Prince (or god) of this world: <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>i.e<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">., the ungodly inhabitants of it. 1 John 3:1 \u2014 &#8220;Therefore the world [<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>i.e<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">., those who are without God) knoweth us not.&#8221; So 4:5, and 5:4, 5, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>etc<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nMetonymy of the Adjunct: &#8220;The rulers of the darkness of this age&#8221;: <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>i.e<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">., of all the dark things done in this world; the word &#8221; age &#8221; pointing to a time coming when that rule will be done away.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nSynecdoche of the Part: &#8220;We wrestle not against flesh and blood&#8221;: <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>i.e<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">., against human beings, in contrast with wicked spiritual beings.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nVerse 14<br \/>\nGenitive of Apposition: &#8220;The breastplate of righteousness.&#8221; Here, it is not the genitive of possession as in verses 16 and 17, but of apposition, Christ&#8217;s righteousness being our breastplate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><br \/>\nVerse 16<br \/>\nGenitive of Possession: &#8220;The shield of faith&#8221;: <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>i.e<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">., faith&#8217;s shield. The shield which faith possesses and uses: <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><i>viz<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">., Christ (Gen. 15:1; Psa. 84:11 (12).
