Syn ‘-cho-ree ‘-sis<\/em>.\u00a0 Concession, acquiescence<\/em>, consenting<\/em>, from Greek, \u03c3\u03c5\u03bd\u03c7\u03c9\u03c1\u03ad\u03c9 (synchore\u014d<\/em>), to come together<\/em>, agree<\/em>.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The figure is used when we make a concession<\/em> of one point in order to gain another. In this case the concession or admission is made, and may be rightly made,
\nin order to gain a point. It thus differs from Epitrope<\/em> (see below), where we admit something that is wrong in itself for the sake of argument.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Synchoresis<\/em>, therefore, is concession<\/em>, while Epitrope<\/em> is admission<\/em> or surrender<\/em>.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe Latins called it CONCESSIO, concession, while the Greeks had another name
\nfor it, EPICHORESIS (Epi-i-cho-ree’-sis<\/em>), an agreement upon a point.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
