\n1 And\u2021<\/span><\/span><\/span> I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2 And<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2021<\/span><\/span><\/span> the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [<\/span><\/span><\/span>the feet<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3 And<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2021<\/span><\/span><\/span> I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

15 And<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2021<\/span><\/span><\/span> he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

16 And<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2021<\/span><\/span><\/span> he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

17 And<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2021<\/span><\/span><\/span> that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

18 Here is wisdom. * Verse 18 should read \u201c…for it is the number of mankind;…\u201d
\nOn page 254 of his \u201cGreek Grammar Beyond The Basics\u201d, Daniel B. Wallace suggests the possibility of the word \u201cman\u201d meaning humankind (mankind). This due to it being a generic noun that is an anarthrous predicate nominative.
\nAnarthrous simply means that it has no definite or indefinite article.
\nPredicate nominative means it is a secondary subject, the word \u201cnumber\u201d being the main subject.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nNote: What I have noticed in studying the figure Polysyndeton <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span>is that there are three basic types of this figure. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Polysyndeton<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span> is the use of (too) many conjunctions. The first type is when it is used to bind individual members of a group together, so as not to loose, and thereby lose, any from the group. This form can be seen in verse 7 as \u201c….. kindreds, and tongues, and nations\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\n
\nThe second type is used in context coordination, as can be seen in this chapter with the mark (\u2021<\/span><\/span><\/span>) that I added. Here it is used almost as the period at the end of a sentence, only that it does not end a sentence, but rather begins one, as it does throughout much of this book. A period can not only end a sentence, it is used also to end paragraphs and entire written works. The punctuation mark we call a period did exist during the Koine Greek time<\/a>, but was only used occasionally in theater.<\/span><\/span><\/span>ref<\/a>.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/sup><\/span>
\nThe use of a conjunction at the beginning of a sentence not only ends the previous sentence, but it continues the context, thereby accomplishing two jobs.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>Polysyndeton<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span> in context coordination presents a narrative style.<\/span><\/span><\/span>

\nThe third type is in the use of correlative conjunctions, which we can examine later.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
