\nVerse 1 Synecdoche:
\n1. \u201cFather\u201d is used, but means ancestor

\nProlepsis (Occupatio\/Aperta): it is sometimes argued that being saved through faith is works, because it requires something of effort or doing on the part of the one having faith. In verses 1-3 Paul meets this objection before it can be presented.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\nVerses 4-6 Idioma: \u201cWorks\u201d here refers to the observation\/performance of the Mosaic Law. The original audience of Paul’s epistles would have understood it this way. (see Rom. 3:20<\/a>; Gal. 2:16<\/a>)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\nVerse 5 Ampliatio: here the word \u201cungodly\u201d is used in reference to those who once were, but no longer are. For a better understanding of this figure see page 689<\/a> of Dr. Bullinger’s book, \u201c<\/span><\/span>Figures Of Speech Used In The Bible<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>\u201d<\/span><\/span>. The effect in verse 5 is not unlike that of the figure Gnome in that it reminds them\/us of something already known.
