(Polysyndeton)

16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.

17 Come*. And let him that heareth say, Come*. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
(Polysyndeton: (And) context coordination; Epistrophe240)

18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen.

Note: the word for “tree” in the Greek is dendron,
δένδρον . The word for fig tree is sykē , συκῆ , while the word for sycamine tree is sykaminos, συκάμινος . Another tree mentioned in the New Testament is the sycomore, or sykomorea, συκομορέα . This word is used in Luke 19:4 and means “fig mulberry tree”*. Also, the olive tree is elaia, ἐλαία .

Other trees are mentioned in the Bible, but the wood lumber, and items made from that lumber or wood is called
xylon. Xylon does not refer to the tree, but the wood of the tree. By this we know that when the word xylon is used it is not literally a tree, but a wooden product of the tree. The terms “tree of life” and “tree of knowledge of good and evil” both use the word xylon and are used figuratively.

In Revelation 22:2 and again in verse 14, the word “tree” in “the tree of life” is the word
xylon, ξύλον , and means the wood of a tree, or that which is made from the wood. This word also is used by Peter in Acts 5:30, 10:39, 13:29
and
1 Pet. 2:24. Paul also used this word in Galations 3:13.

Please note that the Hebrew word for tree,
עֵץ`ets, has a broader meaning including a living tree, and may or may not have a non-literal, figurative meaning. See Gen.2:16.
